They didn't.
The neighborhoods we live in have histories.
The schools our children attend have histories.
The opportunities available to families have histories.
Even the stereotypes people carry have histories.
Understanding those histories doesn't mean living in the past. It means having enough context to understand the present.
That's why history matters.

Statement apparel occupies an interesting space between fashion and communication.
A person can walk into a grocery store wearing a shirt that makes someone stop and think.
A hoodie can start a conversation between strangers.

Understanding America without understanding Black history leaves enormous pieces of the story missing.
And those missing pieces matter when we try to understand the world around us today.
